ULTRATECH BLIND CLEANING was established in 2013, essentially following a plea from potential customers. Founder, managing director and chief cleaner BEN HOBBS had set up Hobbs Carpet Cleaning a few years earlier. “I would turn up at homes and businesses and so many people asked if I could clean blinds too – so I decided to branch out”. Ben is a self-confessed “clean freak”. This is the story of how he got started in the cleaning industry and how he is building his business.
“I inherited the clean genes from my mother, who always kept everything spotlessly clean. I think she used to vacuum the house around 15 times a day, although that may be a slight exaggeration. As I grew up, I realised quite how much I like my surroundings to be clean too. Over time, it became obvious that cleaning would become my livelihood. My father is in the cleaning industry and I used to tag along with him, discovering what works and what doesn’t. I loved chatting to the customers – people are so fascinating and it was a real privilege to be invited into their homes and to make a difference. As soon as I was able, I started working with my Dad part-time and by the age of 21 I went out on my own and started my own cleaning business. My mission is to be the best of the best – to treat every job as if I was cleaning my own home. And for several years now, that has certainly worked for me. Soon I had more work than I could handle so we expanded the team – and our motto now is SMALL enough to care but big enough to have the right KIT and the TEAM to get the job done well.
I would describe myself as a perfectionist – not just when it comes to getting rid of the dirt but in making sure that my customers are really, truly happy. In my experience, I’ve found that has led to a whole lot more business. I want this website to reflect what we can do – and to attract new business - but I’m also proud that so many of my jobs comes from word-of-mouth recommendations.
I’m often asked what my vision is for ULTRATECH BLIND CLEANING and my only real answer is to keep doing what we’re doing. I’m open to new ideas and very keen to keep across the latest technology in the cleaning industry – and in the past that’s meant travelling to different countries to see how it works and talking to field experts.
As a family-run business, the values of hard work, fairness, transparency and reliability run through everything we do.”
